I'm fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation!
Many years ago, I was working at the local hospital in Tennessee when I got that scary call- my sister Krys had collapsed and was in a coma in Florida. My colleagues took over, and released me to grab my family and fly down to be with her. A couple of tense weeks followed- Krys had a large brain aneurysm- 2 cm!- that had ruptured, and was in a coma. Surgery, followed by intense therapy- and my mother staying by her side for almost 2 years got me my sister back. We watched her relearn how to walk, talk, and eventually get married , have children and practice law. Krys has traveled through life with grace and never brought up her miracle of life until now. Which is why I am asking for your donations as I attempt to run in March in support of Brain Aneurysm Research. I am so very proud of my baby sister, so thankful to an awesome God who answered prayers, and hope that by supporting further research other families can also be blessed if they are recipients of a scary call.In Krys’ words:Good morning Friends and Family,First, I would like to say "hello", as there are many of you I have no spoke with for a while due to distance and the quick passage of time of busy people. There is a part of my history that some of you know because you have known me for a long time, but which I do not share or speak of with many people as it is in the past, done, and a challenge I work through every day on my own -- and that is, I am an aneurysm survivor. When 25, after completion of law school, I survived a burst cerebral aneurysm. But the survival came at a cost of my memory. From that day, I have worked hard to overcome -- and hide -- the challenges the burst created. But it has been over 30 years now and I am realizing this challenge is one suffered by many people, so it is time to stop hiding and start advocating. So, please forgive me if this invasion into your space is unwelcome, but, if you are able, I am doing a simple race in March 2026 and fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, which is involved in research and support for families who face this challenge. Appropriately, our team name for the race is Old Farts. :-). Krys
OUR MISSION: To promote early detection of brain aneurysms by providing knowledge and raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors. Work with the medical communities to provide support networks for patients and families, as well as to further research that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.
Through your support, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation will be able to continue to provide support and educational materials and information to brain aneurysm patients, their families, and the medical community and to promote critical awareness of brain aneurysms which will lead to earlier detection. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is funding essential research that will promote a better understanding of why this condition happens and identify those at risk before an aneurysm rupture occurs.
Thank you for making a difference with your support!
