My Story -
What began as one terrifying moment became a story about survival, family, faith, and purpose.
At 15 years old, I went out for a jog like any normal day. Suddenly, I felt a headache so intense it was as if a box of nails had been driven through the back of my head and out through my forehead. The pain was unbearable. I became dizzy and disoriented, and to this day I still do not know how I managed to make it back home over a mile away.
When I finally got home, I collapsed onto the couch screaming for my mom. She rushed me to urgent care, where doctors discovered I had a leaking brain aneurysm. Blood was leaking into my head, causing the severe pain and pressure I was experiencing. I was sent home that night with pain medication and scheduled for emergency surgery the next morning.
The following day, my entire family came together. My aunts, uncles, and loved ones all walked into the hospital beside me. I spent nearly two months in the hospital, and throughout that time the surgeons, nurses, and hospital staff treated me with incredible compassion and care. Their support during one of the darkest moments of my life inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare myself.
Years later, aneurysms would impact my family again in a devastating way.
On January 9, 2023, I lost my mother to an aneurysm. The same woman who stayed beside me every single day during my recovery was suddenly gone. It was one of the hardest moments of my life. Through that pain, however, I found faith, strength, and a deeper appreciation for life and family.
After learning that my grandmother also had an aneurysm, my wife and I made the difficult but important decision to have our four beautiful daughters tested as well. Protecting them became our priority.
More recently, in May 2026, my sister suffered two aneurysms one that leaked at 5mm and another 2mm aneurysm that remains active. Watching her go through this reopened old wounds for all of us, but it also brought our family even closer together. We now understand that this journey is not one any of us walks alone.
Finding this foundation has meant so much to my family. It has given us hope, support, awareness, and a community of people who truly understand the impact aneurysms have on survivors and their loved ones. This run is more than just miles for me it is for survivors, for those we have lost, and for the families who continue fighting every single day.
If you would like to support our journey, you can help by donating to the foundation or by joining our team and walking this journey alongside us. Every donation, every share, and every person who joins helps bring awareness, support research, and potentially save lives.
Thank you for making a difference with your support!
