Brain Aneurysm Foundation

I'm fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation! 

As many of you know, I almost lost my life to a ruptured brain aneurysm on 1/17/2023. 

I spent 3 weeks in neuro ICU, which I only remember little bits and pieces of. I had no idea I had an aneurysm, let alone 2. 

One was coiled and the other required a craniotomy to be clipped. I was intubated for 2 days and they had no idea what my outcome would be. 

The rupture caused a subarachnoid hemorrhage which is a type of stroke. I found out later that the rupture caused 3 other strokes due to having complications with vasospasms. 

My first sign was waking up sweating profusely just from my head around 2:30am. Not long after, the confusion set in and my head was foggy. I had no idea what was happening and couldn’t fall back asleep.

Soon the nausea and vomiting started. Once I knew my mom would be awake I called to ask if her or my dad could take me to the hospital. My head didn’t start hurting until my dad picked me up and headed to the hospital.

The rupture had caused a hemorrhagic stroke due to the bleeding inside my brain, a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Later on I found out I had 3 other strokes due to complications with vasospasms. 

I am grateful to still be here and forever thankful to Dr. Heiferman for saving my life!!

OUR MISSION: To promote early detection of brain aneurysms by providing knowledge and raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors. Work with the medical communities to provide support networks for patients and families, as well as to further research that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.

Through your support, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation will be able to continue to provide support and educational materials and information to brain aneurysm patients, their families, and the medical community and to promote critical awareness of brain aneurysms which will lead to earlier detection. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is funding essential research that will promote a better understanding of why this condition happens and identify those at risk before an aneurysm rupture occurs.
