Another time, another run! Krys on the right.
Another time, another run! Krys on the right.

I'm fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation!

Most of you don?t know the challenges my sister has overcome in her life.  I was in training when my beautiful younger sister collapsed years ago from a ruptured brain aneurysm- 2 cm large!-? just after passing the law bar exam. This had a 75% fatality rate in the first 24 hours, yet here we are.  She has kept this very private over the years- years of relearning how to talk and walk, relearning her law education.  Years of focusing her energy on becoming a wonderful wife, mother, and now practicing lawyer- years of being our family miracle.

I am helping Krys raise money for awareness of aneurysms, and for future research so other families can have this simple miracle.  And yes, I will be running alongside her- after all, as her older sister I did help teach her to walk not once, but twice in her life!!

Here are Krys? words:

First, I would like to say "hello", as there are many of you I have no spoke with for a while due to distance and the quick passage of time of busy people.

There is a part of my history that some of you know because you have known me for a long time,  but which I do not share or speak of with many people as it is in the past, done, and a challenge I work through every day on my own -- and that is, I am an aneurysm survivor.  When 25, after completion of law school, I survived a burst cerebral aneurysm.  But the survival came at a cost of my memory. From that day, I have worked hard to overcome -- and hide -- the challenges the burst created.

But it has been over 30 years now and I am realizing this challenge is one suffered by many people, so it is time to stop hiding and start advocating.  So, please forgive me if this invasion into your space is unwelcome, but, if you are able, I am doing a simple race in March 2026 and fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, which is involved in research and support for families who face this challenge.  Appropriately, our team name for the race is Old Farts.  :-)

OUR MISSION: To promote early detection of brain aneurysms by providing knowledge and raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors. Work with the medical communities to provide support networks for patients and families, as well as to further research that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.

Through your support, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation will be able to continue to provide support and educational materials and information to brain aneurysm patients, their families, and the medical community and to promote critical awareness of brain aneurysms which will lead to earlier detection. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is funding essential research that will promote a better understanding of why this condition happens and identify those at risk before an aneurysm rupture occurs.

Thank you for making a difference with your support!
