I'm fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation!

In life, some people are lucky—and some are lucky beyond belief. I don’t gamble, but life placed a high-stakes bet on me on March 18, 2015. Out of nowhere, during orchestra class in my senior year of high school, I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and hemorrhagic stroke that threw me onto life’s roulette wheel.

It was out of the blue as I spent one year in the hospital relearning everything—how to speak, sit up, move my paralyzed right side (like the feeling of your foot falling asleep with half of your body), brush my teeth, recite the ABCs and 123s, and most importantly, recognize my loved ones. After I was stable enough to move, I went through a long but steady recovery for 2 years to find my way back to finding my voice and identity again (watch my story https://lnkd.in/eu7_WGKc!).

Ruptured brain aneurysms are fatal in about 50% of cases. Around 15% patients die before even reaching the hospital. I’m incredibly lucky to have survived and recovered successfully, but many people aren’t as lucky.

That’s why I’m volunteering at the Annual NYC Run/Walk on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Hudson River Park to help those individuals give them a fighting chance to live again! I hope my story—and my luck—can help someone else find their way through. Join Team Chicken Wang and register and run/walk/donate on the website https://lnkd.in/e39XpUk7 or volunteer with me athttps://lnkd.in/edShcQPi. Let me know if you have any questions via direct messaging here on LinkedIn!

I hope that my story can pass on to the next aneurysm survivor or anyone persevering in life in progress. I’m still healing and recovering—and I believe others deserve that same chance to keep moving forward. ❤
