2025 New England Run/Walk

Team Marg

I'm fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation!

This is our second year participating in the Brain Aneurysm Walk/Run in memory of Margarida, who passed in 2023.

Margarida was the strongest, most selfless person anyone could have the pleasure of knowing. Margarida made the most ultimate sacrifice of leaving her home country at the age of 21 with her husband and newborn son. Without speaking a word of English, she came to the United States determined to make a better life for her family. She ultimately raised six children who all graduated college, which was one of the greatest gifts life could give her. She even went on to pursue the dream of getting her own college degree, graduating at the age of 58. Her hard work, determination, and selflessness was incredible. She always taught her children to persevere and never give up. She was always there to help push you forward.

Margarida was loved by everyone around her. Her favorite way of spreading her love was through her baking and cooking. No one left her house hungry! Every gathering involved food, and it was always homemade. She created some of the most amazing memories for her family around the kitchen table, especially for her children and grandchildren. Not only was she an amazing cook, but she was also a talented seamstress and could somehow bring any dying plant back to life. She was drawn to nature, and loved spending time near the ocean.

Margarida touched the lives of many. She worked in hospice for several years, giving her compassion and kindness to those in their last moments. She was adored by the patients she cared for as well as their families. She always put others before herself. Her love was endless and radiating. I am so honored to call her my mom.

By participating in this walk, we hope to help advances in research and medicine to help prevent and treat brain aneurysms from affecting others. We hope to help save other lives from being cut too short. Your donation is greatly appreciated in Margarida’s memory.
