Brain Aneurysm Foundation Fundraiser
I'm fundraising for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation!
Just another reminder that me and my team, Carol's Heroes, will be walking in the fundraiser for the Brain Aneurysem Foundation this Saturday, April 27, 2024. It is not too late to join us or just donate (or both). Thank you so much for your time.
OUR MISSION: To promote early detection of brain aneurysms by providing knowledge and raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors. Work with the medical communities to provide support networks for patients and families, as well as to further research that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.
Through your support, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation will be able to continue to provide support and educational materials and information to brain aneurysm patients, their families, and the medical community and to promote critical awareness of brain aneurysms which will lead to earlier detection. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is funding essential research that will promote a better understanding of why this condition happens and identify those at risk before an aneurysm rupture occurs.
As many of you know, my life and my family's lives were turned upside down seven years ago when I had a ruptured brain aneurysm and subarachnoid hemorrhage (stroke) while at work. October 21, 2016 to be exact. This was followed by touch and go life and death decisions that my family had to make. I was in an induced coma for about six weeks, then inpatient rehab for another six. Then six or so months in home rehab, no driving, very little memory of any of it until about late 2019-2020. I finally felt a bit like my old self and now have a part-time job at a CVS to supplement my disability and actually to help me rehab mentally and physically. I am so happy to have found the BA survivor groups on Facebook, and then this fundraiser. Thank you for making a difference with your support!
With my extra seven years, I got to...
Visit UMASS Memorial ICU to see the people who saved my life.
Travel to Seville, Spain with my husband to visit our daughter.
Keep on having holiday dinners with my family.
Have more date nights with my husband.
See my daughter get engaged.
Enjoy the little things in life.
Be thankful for every day I have and what is to come.
