Brain Aneurysm Foundation Memorial

Joan English

Hi everyone, As many of you know, I am raising awareness and funds for The Brain Aneurysm Foundation, and I have set up a Memorial Page for Joan English. I'd like to be able to count on you to make a donation to the organization so that I can help them fulfill their mission. Giving is easy! Please click Donate Now on my page. You can read more about what we do here as well as make a secure donation online.

The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is the world's only nonprofit organization solely dedicated to providing critical awareness, education, support and research funding to reduce the incidence of brain aneurysm ruptures.

All proceeds go towards:

  • Funding and supporting new research.
  • Providing support and educational materials to the medical community, the newly diagnosed, survivors, family members, friends and the general public regarding the facts, treatment options, and recovery process for brain aneurysms.
  • Increasing awareness of brain aneurysms by promoting National Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month in September and by distributing aneurysm awareness materials to Emergency Departments in every hospital and to the community.

With your support, we can start making a real investment to help fight the devastation caused by brain aneurysms and save lives. All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar raised goes to help support the mission of The Brain Aneurysm Foundation.

If you cannot make a donation at this time, please forward this e-mail and link to everyone you know. Post this on your Facebook and Twitter pages. Every donation counts, no matter what the amount.

The loss of a loved one is devastating. Yet, we are always reminded by our hearts – how lucky we have been to know those that we loved even in our loss.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated.

"I’m not sure where to start but I am still in shock that you are gone Nanny. You were the best grandma a girl could ever ask for. It still seems like yesterday you were taking care of me and bringing me to the park to play in the playground. You were so nice to everyone you met and you touched so many lives. Even with the pain you had in your neck for so long you would push through it to come see me play every single game I have ever played whether it was softball all the way in Tennessee or volleyball tournaments all around the state. You were definitely my biggest supporter and you were a grandma to all the girls on the team. I knew I could always count on you to have a snack or really anything I needed because you were just that much of an amazing woman. I’m so happy you got to find out that I am going to England before it happened but now I know I wont have to tell you about it because you will be right there with me. The same goes for softball, I know you will be watching over us play and cheering us on all the way from heaven. I love you so much and I will miss you terribly but I am glad you aren’t in any more pain. I will see you again one day I love you Nanny rest in peace." -Lauren English

In loving memory of Joan English …
Mom, I’m struggling to put into words what’s in my heart. I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that you are gone. I just want to tell you how much I loved you. I will be forever in your debt for raising such a wonderful son. I am proud to be his wife and a member of this family. I know that you absolutely adored Lauren and she you. It is a comfort knowing that Michael, Lauren and I will have yet another angel watching over us. Rest assured, we will take care of Papa.
Love, Mary

Remembering Aunt Joan, of blessed memory. What a kind, caring, person, what an exemplary partner, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend. I remember when Bill first met and married her--for a kid my age at the time it was very exciting to see my uncle find a beautiful partner! My mother Helen was Bill's very much older sister.  Over the years, my parents Helen and Phil, and I shared Christmas or Thanksgiving or a summer cookout with Bill, Joan, Bill Jr., and Mike. We visited them at different houses as they moved and we watched these great sons play, watch sports on t.v., play music, grow, explore different interests, grow some more, date, marry, parent and weather ups and downs. Joan would make terrific meals, seeming to please everyone in the room with something special on the table. In later years Joan joined Bill many times in helping my widowed, disabled and aging mother in Warwick with everything from cleaning up a flooded basement (twice!) to changing a battery--or just stopping by. Despite Joan's physical pains, and despite having her share of disappointments and troubles that so many of us go through in life, she bravely managed and helped others. Her love for and pride in her family shone in her face always. But perhaps what I, personally, will remember most is her genuine warmth --without fluff-- across years and geographical spaces. One might not see her for ten or even twenty years and yet emotionally she was 'there' for the other person within seconds upon meeting again. She knew what mattered most in our time together on earth. She is greatly missed. Thank you, Joan.  love, Linda

"Joan was a grandma to all of the girls on our team...For the longest time I didn't even know she had a name other than grandma! Grandma was the sweetest, nicest, most kind hearted person I've met in a long time. Whether she was making sure we were hydrated on the field or bringing us delicious snacks, she was always there for us. She was our number one cheerleader and always put a smile on our faces. I can't imagine playing without her there...but now I know she won't miss any of our games up in heaven. Rest in peace grandma English, we love you <3"- Cristen Rekrut
