In Honor of Patricia Viti

Hi everyone, I am raising awareness and funds for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, and I have set up a Memorial Page for my mom, Patricia Viti.
On Thursday, September 5th, our lives were turned upside down. My mother suffered a brain aneurysm in our home in Iowa that night, and was airlifted to University of Iowa Memorial Hospital where she underwent various neuorsurgeries to try and repair the damage the bleeding had done. Unfortunately, it was too late. Her brain stem was effectively wiped out by the massive brain bleed that occurred near her cerebellum. My younger brother rushed home from work, and was with her every step of the way. My dad answered her phone calls, got emergency help for her and made it from his work in New Jersey to be by her side in Iowa City. My sister, Madeline, my mom's 3 sisters Carmen, Bea and JoAnn, and my cousin Veronica were all there, too. I was studying abroad in Paris when I got the news that my mother was brain dead. I flew home and made it to her side with everyone else, and together we took my mom off of life support, watched her breathe her last breaths and held her hands as we said goodbye. She passed in the early hours of September 8th, 2019.
I started this page because my mom was taken in the blink of an eye. She was happy and healthy one second, and gone the next. It is so frustrating to me that there was nothing anyone could have done to stop this, prevent this or fix this. It would have taken the luckiest coincidence to have figured out she had this inside her head. The luckiest miracle to have saved her after it burst. I hope that someday brain aneruysms are more preventable and more curable, which is why I decided to start a memorial page in my mom's honor. ***
The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is the world's only nonprofit organization solely dedicated to providing critical awareness, education, support and research funding to reduce the incidence of brain aneurysm ruptures.
All proceeds go towards:
- Funding and supporting new research.
- Providing support and educational materials to the medical community, the newly diagnosed, survivors, family members, friends and the general public regarding the facts, treatment options, and recovery process for brain aneurysms.
- Increasing awareness of brain aneurysms by promoting National Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month in September and by distributing aneurysm awareness materials to Emergency Departments in every hospital and to the community.
With your support, we can start making a real investment to help fight the devastation caused by brain aneurysms and save lives. All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar raised goes to help support the mission of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
If you cannot make a donation at this time, please forward this e-mail and link to everyone you know. Post this on your Facebook and Twitter pages. Every donation counts, no matter what the amount.
The loss of a loved one is devastating. Yet, we are always reminded by our hearts – how lucky we have been to know those that we loved even in our loss.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated.
