Welcome to the memorial page for Tanya Lynn Goodwin
On Friday October 12 2018, Tanya woke up like any other day and went to work. Her husband dropped off her favorite coffee that morning, she had conversations with family to discuss plans for the weekend and was going about her day like it was any other. A few hours later, everything would change. She was being taken to a local hospital, very ill and minimally responsive. It was eventually determined that she suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was then transferred to Cooper University Hospital, where they then coiled the aneurysm to stop the bleeding. We were told the operation was a success and that she would remain in the ICU. After two days of heavy sedation, she started breathing on her own and eventually was awake and communicating with us. The doctors had mentioned that she could be in the ICU for a few weeks but kept saying just how well she was doing. The word 'vasospasms' were mentioned as a complication following aneurysms, but never in a million years did she or anyone imagine what would happen next.
On Friday, October 19th, exactly one week after the initial aneurysm everything took a turn. The vasospams were building and her pressure was elevated to the point of concern. She went in for further testing where it was determined one of her vessels was 90% closed. The doctors went in to open the vessel by way of a 'balloon' procedure to prevent a major stroke from occurring. It was during that procedure that her vessel burst. This bleed was worse than the initial aneurysm and an emergency craniotomy was performed. While they were successful in relieving the pressure, the damage had already been done. On October 22, 2018, it was determined there was no brain activity. She was 49 years young.
Tanya was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend. She took pride in her career and worked very hard as the Municipal Clerk of Swedesboro, NJ for many years. Tanya was smart, kind, full of energy and always had a smile on her face. She truly enjoyed life and was always up for anything as long as it included being with the people she loved. She found genuine happiness in seeing that others were happy.
Tanya was also a very giving person and following her death her wishes were honored as an organ donor. Her heart, kidneys, liver, and both retinas were gifted through the NJ Sharing Network. This is an opportunity for us to raise awareness and money for a cause that is so close to our hearts. Thank you for your support.
Love,
The Goodwin & Norsworthy Family
The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is the world's only nonprofit organization solely dedicated to providing critical awareness, education, support and research funding to reduce the incidence of brain aneurysm ruptures.
All proceeds go towards:
