Sherrell Alicia's Brain Aneurysm Foundation fundraiser page
Hello friends, family, and supporters!
This September, I'm honored to be participating as an ambassador for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
When I was just 8 years old, I lost my mother to two brain aneurysms. Her passing left a profound impact on my life, leading me to educate myself about this silent and often deadly condition. That knowledge became my lifeline years later.
In 2022, I was diagnosed with not one, but two brain aneurysms. Because I knew the signs, I sought medical help in time, which ultimately led to my diagnosis. Since then, I’ve undergone three procedures, including two craniotomies. Today, I carry three metal clips in my head, but more importantly, I carry the gift of life.
Raising awareness about brain aneurysms is crucial. Recognizing the signs and seeking medical attention early can be the difference between life and death. I hope that by sharing my journey, I can help others understand the importance of awareness and prompt action.
Let’s continue to spread the word, educate ourselves and others, and support those who are going through similar challenges. Life is precious, and with knowledge, we can save lives.
Why I’m Fundraising
Every 18 minutes, someone in the United States experiences a brain aneurysm rupture. Tragically, about 50% of these cases result in death, and of those who survive, approximately 66% suffer from some permanent neurological deficit. Most brain aneurysms are treatable if you know you have one. Your support can be the reason that someone learns the signs and symptoms of a brain aneurysm and seeks help.
Together we can:
- Fund Lifesaving Research: Support groundbreaking studies aimed at early detection, improved treatment, and prevention of brain aneurysms.
- Raise Awareness: Educate the public about the warning signs and risks associated with brain aneurysms, leading to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.
- Provide Support: Offer hope and assistance to patients and their families through educational resources and support groups
